Female Hair Transplants San Jose

A woman’s hair is her crowning glory and one of the features many women spend the most time and money on. If it begins to fall out, it can be absolutely devastating. It can lead to total loss of confidence and even depression. Jenesis Hair Transplant Center has ioneered a new hair transplant technique that delivers realistic, it can be more than ust upsetting, natural looking results with minimal downtime.

Causes of Female Hair Loss

The causes of hair loss in women vary compared to that in men, and this is one of the primary reasons that it is important to first determine if hair transplant surgery is appropriate as a hair loss treatment for women in each particular case. Female hair loss may be due to hormonal conditions such as pregnancy or menopause, female pattern hair loss, or skin and scalp conditions including alopecia areata, anagen hair loss, cicatricial alopecias, disorders of hair growth, inflammatory scalp, telogen hair loss, tinea capitis, traction alopecia and trichotillomania.

Depending on the cause and stage of progression of hair loss, some conditions can only be treated with medicine or the passage of time, while others allow for surgical treatment. Dr. Jane will make the proper judgment, ensuring safe and successful treatment for hair loss in women.

Hairline Lowering Procedures for Women with a High Forehead

The Ideal Female Hairline – Correcting the High Forehead

Female hairline lowering has become one of the main objectives for female hair restoration at our clinic. The female hairline is variable in position. However, a “normal” female hairline is typically positioned 5 to 6.5cm above the brows and usually begins at some point where the scalp slopes from a more horizontal position to a vertical one. This optimal position allows for ease of hairstyling and provides facial harmony and balance.

There are a number of women who have a hereditary high hairline (or high forehead). The appearance of a high hairline can make women look masculine and/or older than their years. The associated high forehead is often seen as unattractive and their hair styling is often limited to combing downward (bangs) to camouflage it.

These women, even though there are no signs of hair loss, are dissatisfied with their naturally high forehead and wish they could lower their hairline to a more cosmetically pleasing location. Hair transplant is the answer for you to improve and lower your hairline and to create a more feminine hairline through female hairline lowering. We perform female hairline lowering in women who lose hair in the frontal hairline with aging, for hair loss incurred along scars in browlifted areas. Further, we perform female hairline lowering in younger and older women who simply want a lower, more feminine hairline even without evidence of any hair loss.

State of the art follicular unit hair transplantation can be an effective procedure to treat these patients and has a minimal risk of complications.

Recovery

Recovery Following Female Hair Transplant Surgery

Recovering after female hair restoration surgery is dependent in part on how donor hair is harvested, whether by strip harvesting or follicular unit extraction.

In general, it takes approximately 2-4 days, so you may need to take a day off work and avoid sporting activities for about a week. If linear harvesting is used, you may experience a bit more discomfort following surgery.

By the day after your surgery, you should be able to resume most daily activities, although it is recommended that you hold off on strenuous activities for a week to prevent any accidental injury and reduce the risk of bleeding.

You can return to work on the day following surgery, although many people choose to take a few days off following the procedure. You can expect to have some tiny scabbing in the transplanted area for up to a week, will have no bandages, and can wash your hair on the day following surgery. You can wear a hat or cap immediately after surgery if you wish to conceal any scabs.

Consultation

Please contact and see us for a no-cost consultation. Be assured that your privacy is of our utmost importance. Occasionally, there are other medical conditions that cause hair loss in women. For these situations, we will diagnose and refer you for appropriate treatment. For those of you outside of Bay Area, we can work closely with your doctor to determine if you are a candidate for hair transplantation.
