Hair Transplant Aftercare should be discussed prior to the procedure so that you know what to expect and plan for–for example, depending on the type of job you have, you may be able to return to work right away, if your job is not very strenuous, or you may need to wait a week while you recover to return. Another consideration is the aesthetic results–you will be able to wear a hat after the surgery. The hair that is transplanted initially will generally fall out int he first eight weeks while the new growth breaks through around 3 months after the procedure. It may take as many as 6-8 months for the new hair to make a significant, visible difference.
It will be very important to understand the follow the Hair Transplant Aftercare rules and procedures following your surgery. Grafts are especially sensitive that first night after the surgery and could fall out if touched or fussed with–you should avoid coming, rubbing, touching, or pulling shirts over your head for at least 24 hours after the procedure. You should sleep in an upright position on the first three nights after the surgery to avoid accidentally rubbing against the grafts. You will be given a lotion for recovery that is to be sprayed onto the transplanted hair every 30 minutes on the first evening after the transplant. It is important to wait at least a week before taking a shower. To learn more visit our Hair Transplant Aftercare FAQ page and discuss your options with our office.
